The 2020 Sundance Film Festival is almost two weeks away! Held in Park City, Utah, independent filmmaking’s biggest annual event in the U.S. is chock full of films from Woodstock Film Festival alumni and friends.

Another narrative feature debut from an accomplished documentarian, I CARRY YOU WITH ME is a heartfelt tale about self sacrifice in the name of love. The film is centered around the relationship between Iván, a trainee chef living in Mexico and his newfound partner, Gerardo, an openly gay schoolteacher. When familial homophobia threatens Iván’s ability to see his child, he makes the daring risk of crossing the border to make a name for himself in the New York restaurant business, leaving his lover and son behind.

Heidi Ewing is an Academy Award-nominated filmmaker and producer known for JESUS CAMP, ONE OF US, and 12TH AND DELAWARE. Her 2005 film, THE BOYS OF BARAKA screened at the Woodstock Film Festival where it won the Audience Award for Best Documentary Feature. She also was a member of the Festival’s Documentary Shorts jury and moderated a workshop on documentary filmmaking in 2010. In 2012 Ewing sat on a panel titled “From Reel to Real: How Independent Film Impacts Our World” with Meera Ghandi, John Bowermaster, Todd Wider, and Mai Iskander.

Catch the World Premiere of I CARRY YOU WITH ME on January 26th at the Sundance Film Festival.
