Julie Taymor's THE GLORIAS Included in Official Sundance Features Lineup
Congratulations to our 2018 Maverick Award recipient Julie Taymor (THE LION KING, FRIDA, ACROSS THE UNIVERSE) whose film THE GLORIAS was announced as a part of the official features program for the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

The Tony, Emmy, and Academy Award-winning film and stage director’s newest creative endeavor follows the life of iconic journalist and women’s rights activist Gloria Steinem, based on her 2015 autobiography My Life on the Road. Oscar-winning actors Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore play younger and older versions of Steinem respectively, starting from her youth in India to the founding of Ms. magazine and evolution into the influence feminist author we know today.
This is not Taymor’s first time behind the camera. The renowned playwright has directed numerous films, many which have gone on to be recognized by the Academy including the Frida Kahlo biopic FRIDA and the jukebox musical ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. Her film adaptation of the opera OEDIPUS REX won an Emmy Award for Best Opera Production.
