Everything You Ever Feared Was True Is True
Recovering addict Seth is challenged when a tenant asks him to help dig up her garage, assuming there is a body of a murdered child below, infecting her family with a malignant energy.
ABOUT THE FILM
Everything You Ever Feared Was True Is True explores the horror of addiction, denial, and childhood trauma. At its core, it’s a ghost story told by Seth, a recovering addict, and spurred by Eliza, a neurotic tenant. The further Seth goes to help Eliza find the body of a missing child, the closer he is followed by the Shadow, a dark entity whose motives are unclear. Past trauma rears its ugly head as Seth finds himself breaking Eliza’s cement floor, in search of a murdered girl.
DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
As a director, I believe a small, intimate story can allow an artist to mine the bigger and broader motif. In this story, Seth’s struggle with addiction and Eliza’s difficulty confronting reality are universal human struggles, resonating with people from all walks of life. While unique, they’re bound by the film’s overall theme: generational trauma, seeping through to the present moment in surprising and devastating ways.
