Last week, the Woodstock Film Festival hosted “Filmmakers on Filmmaking: From Idea to Screen”, a virtual masterclass taught by writer/director John Swab and producer Jeremy Rosen.
Over the past few years, John and Jeremy have combined their talents into a fruitful indie filmmaking partnership. Their 2019 film, RUN WITH THE HUNTED, a thriller about a child runaway who makes a home for himself in the criminal underworld, took home the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the 20th annual Woodstock Film Festival. Forthcoming titles from the duo include BODY BROKERS, which opens in North America this February, and the upcoming IDA RED, currently in post-production.
John and Jeremy spoke at length about the grit and charisma needed to succeed in a fiercely competitive industry, as well as the creative and financial handiwork behind their most recent feature BODY BROKERS. John explained the real-life inspiration behind the film’s script, which focuses on the predatory recruitment practices allegedly used by addiction treatment centers to target drug addicts.
“John and I thoroughly enjoyed sharing our indie film experience and insight during the masterclass.” said Jeremy Rosen. “It was inspiring to discuss with such an enthusiastic, engaged group from all walks of the film community.”
BODY BROKERS will screen in theaters nationwide on February 19th, 2021.
