Julie Taymor’s hotly anticipated Gloria Steinem biopic THE GLORIAS, was enthusiastically received at its Sundance premiere yesterday in Park City, Utah. Starring veteran talents Julianne Moore and Alicia Vikander, the film is an adaptation of Steinem’s 2015 memoir My Life on the Road with Taymor’s signature surrealist touch.

"It was an amazing journey to work with Julie Taymor on THE GLORIAS during the last year, and very rewarding to premiere at Sundance, to [a] standing ovation, riveted audience, applause in the midst of the film, and a clear sense that the film deeply resonated with the 2,500 [attendees]”, said editor of THE GLORIAS and Woodstock Film Festival advisory board member Sabine Hoffman. "Julie Taymor emphasized how Gloria’s journey was guided by meetings with remarkable women, such as Flo Kennedy, Dorothy Pitman Hughes, Bella Abzug and Wilma Mankiller, and Gloria Steinem reminded us in the following Q&A how history and the past are not the same. Hopefully our film can offer an alternate lens; according to the audience responses and discussions following, it may have already started to.”

Reviews of the film were equally warm, with IndieWire’s Kate Erbland writing: “Taymor has cleverly hacked through a rich world and life to pull out enough profound truths to remind us all of both her — and Steinem’s — unstoppable voice.”

Congratulations to everyone involved!
